Artist Statement

Karlalise's practice is grounded in (highly sensitive) perception, observation, presence and contemplation. She investigates chromatic complexity and spatial ambiguity, building low saturation layers with nuanced chroma to make contemplative works that explore themes of the everyday (observing social and built environments), stillness, the self and sacred presence or the sublime.
