Artist Statement

Jane is a self-learning artist, never fully ‘taught’ but constantly learning and evolving her creativity and human experience, keeping the joy and energy of a beginner's mind. Jane has a propensity for fine brush detail. Currently, Jane’s work is rich in narrative and symbology. She draws inspiration from the connectivity of the human spirit, her passion and awe of nature (the gnarly and indomitable Southland windswept trees which inspired her first solo exhibition titled ‘Intrepid’), the elements, the ether and the richness of inner stillness. Currently Jane’s work is rich in symbolism and narrative whilst continuing to draw inspiration from the feminine archetypes. Jane also enjoys painting the occasional still life and floral.
