Artist Biography
Growing up on a North Canterbury farm, a free-range childhood instilled in me a deep appreciation for the natural world—something that continues to shape my practice today. I have over 20 years of experience in graphic design.
Artist Statement
I am a self-taught interdisciplinary artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington, New Zealand, working primarily in painting and sculpture. Hannah Schickedanz is a self-taught artist based in Wellington. Her work blends mythical realism with themes of belonging, ancestry, and connection to place, exploring what it means to be at once human, animal, and part of a landscape shaped by her ancestors’ history of colonisation
